Career Highlights:

Luther, Joe

Every team in every era that made a successful showing at SVC relied on quality goaltending.  Joe Luther had the skills and ability around which a team could have been built during his years at the college.  He may be one of the principle reasons why strong alumni teams were never able to defeat the students whenever he suited up between the pipes.  Hailing from Penn Hills High School near Pittsburgh where he was a starter for the Indians, Joe was not a very large goaltender but played angles extremely well and used his agility and quickness to shut down opposing teams.  He was sought after by adult teams in Pittsburgh and was a frequent “guest” goaltender for Industrial League Teams managed by SVC alums.
