Career Highlights:

Labrasca, Andy

C’72

Andy had an amazing career in the nets at St. Vincent.  In spite of never having played ice hockey, he developed into one of the most outstanding net minders in the history of the school.  He had an amazingly quick glove hand that he used to make saves and control the tempo of games.  His efforts in large part permitted the team to achieve some early successes that other wise would have not been possible.  Two of his most outstanding games included a 60 save shutout effort against Gannon University that ended in a 1-0 victory for SVC and a 62 save performance against Pitt in the disputed overtime championship 3-2 playoff loss during the 1972-1973 campaign.  “Lumpy” played a few seasons for Westmoreland County Community College after graduating from St. Vincent and made several alumni game appearances.

Text Box: The Latrobe Bulletin featured a story on SVC Hockey during the 1970-1971 season.  The caption speaks for itself as Labrasca focuses on taking away the lower part of the net on a shot in practice by Mike Shapert.
