Career Highlights:

Hyner, Gerry

C’72

Along with Bob Farrell and Dick Bienvenue, Gerry was one of the founders of the Saint Vincent Ice Hockey team and established the spirit that still lives on today.  For three years, Gerry was one of the Assistant Captains of the team and was an early offensive threat from the blue line.  Not only was Gerry a key to the early on and off ice success of the Polar Bearcats, he was responsible for many of the statistics and stories about the early years of the ice hockey program.  After St. Vincent, Gerry obtained his Ph.D. while he continued playing hockey at Penn State.  After teaching for several years at Old Dominion University, Gerry eventually moved to Indiana where he is now on the faculty at Purdue.  Gerry attended several of the early alumni games, and participated in the only alumni victory, 6-5, over the undergraduates in 1980.
