As a four-year regular on the Saint Vincent blue line, Matt left his mark on St. Vincent Hockey with intense and competitive effort. He was able to play both an attacking and defensive style as the game dictated and honed his offensive skills to the point where he lead all defenseman in goals scored his senior year. Matt was fearless in his approach toward opposing players and often took an aggressive posture on the ice. He had a short snappy release on his shot and was able to score goals by dipping into the slot from his point position and driving the puck past opposing goalies. One of the best-conditioned athletes on the squad, he always had extra energy for sprints at the end of practice and took great pride in his ability to compete at the intercollegiate level. Matt also took an interest in off ice affairs and provided support in the development and maintenance of the team’s home page for internet access. During his senior year he was selected to receive the most improved player award. |
