No one knew how good the hockey was in Wheeling West Virginia until Pat showed up at his first St. Vincent practice.  He made an immediate impact on the team and provided the depth that the squad needed to win the 1978-1979 WPCHA Division II title.  Not only did he have outstanding hockey sense, he had a great shot, was an outstanding fore checker, and was able to deliver crushing hip checks to unsuspecting opponents.  Pat eventually was named Hockey Director for his senior season, and developed into one of the better players in the schools history.
